2012 album by the Brian Jonestown Massacre, recorded in Berlin in Anton Newcombe’s studio and the infamous East German Radio Station ”Studio East”. The album features original member Matt Hollywood as well as Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3, Spritualized), Constatine Karlis (Dimmer) and Thibault Pesenti (Rockcandys). Also includes vocal performances by Eliza Karmasalo (in Finnish). This album brings the traditional Brian Jonestown Massacre sound and brings it up to date with the benefit of all the additional weirdness that’s been discovered in the past 40 years.
The Brian Jonestown Massacreは、その「インスパイア感」とでも言えばいいのでしょうか・・・がアレで、ダメな人には絶対にダメなバンドのようですけれど、その辺は多少の余裕を持って接して頂きたい。 と何故か私が切に願うところ。
新作はWill Carruthersが参加しているからなのか、一歩突き抜けた空気が漂ってて私は好き。 シューゲイズというより、サイケ。 サイケと言っても懐がかなり深く、雑食性の非常に高い、まさに「次世代」サイケデリックと。 あぁ言い得て妙だ。
2012年に新作でサイケっていうのもなんだけど、サイケ好きな私も断然納得のThe Brian Jonestown Massacreであります。 アントン君いい仕事してます。
